Pedigree analysis -autosomal recessive example

• Autosomal recessive (Phenylketonuria) example-

• Males and females have the same chance of expressing the trait.(autosomal)
• It  can only express the trait (disease) if it is homozygous.(aa-  in this example the shaded part )
• If parents are not infected, but their offsprings are infected it  express the  recessive trait  and both parents are heterozygous.
• If one parent expresses the trait, then their offspring who don't express it are heterozygous(carrier)
• The trait can skip generations.
